Im Browsergame Grepolis startest du mit einer kleinen Polis, die du im Laufe der Zeit zu einer Metropole ausbaust. Dabei hast du die Wahl zwischen 13 unterschiedlichen Gebäuden und acht monumentalen Bauwerken, um dein Reich zu gestalten. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Silbermine, der Hafen und der Holzfäller. In der Akademie von Grepolis stehen dir über 30 unterschiedliche Technologien zur Verfügung, die du erforschen kannst. Dazu zählen zum Beispiel die kürzere Bauzeit von Gebäuden oder die Möglichkeit, andere Städte zu erobern.

Neben der Möglichkeit, deine Polis nach deinen Wünschen zu erbauen, stehen dir in Grepolis mehrere Götter zur Verfügung, aus denen du deinen persönlichen Schutzgott auswählen kannst. Beispielsweise bekommst du durch die Göttin Hera die Möglichkeit, die Güterproduktion in deiner Polis zu stärken oder du kannst durch den Gott der Meere, Poseidon, die feindlichen Seestreitmächte schwächen.
