Celebrating the 9th Birthday of Tribal Wars

For weeks, everyone here at InnoGames was eagerly awaiting it – finally last weekend the long wait was over:  Once again, it was birthday time. Together with our community, we celebrated the 9^th birthday of Tribal Wars near the beautiful castle of Trendelburg. All in all, more than 90 players of all ages joined us for a number of different events, to exchange experiences and to discuss their favorite game, but also to get to know each other.

The Tribal Wars birthday weekend started on Friday afternoon with a relaxing BBQ and the UEFA Euro 2012 quarter final match between Germany and Greece. Luckily for us, we did not only celebrate the birthday of the game afterwards, but also the success of our Nationalmannschaft. On Saturday, the birthday party picked up pace with a couple of fun events. First of all, the InnoGames team was challenged by the players in a match of “Bruchenball”. Bruchenball is a medieval game, where two teams try to score by dragging a heavy ball (about 25kg) into their opponent’s goal. Despite fighting like lions, the InnoGames team was overpowered and defeated 3:1 by our players. But as you can tell from the picture, it was still a blast for all of us and with all the fun, dirty clothes did not matter at all.

Afterwards, every one of us needed to recover, so we spent some time chilling and getting to know each other. Very quickly we all stood together in different groups, discussing a wide range of topics – and of course, Tribal Wars was one of the major ones. It was very interesting to exchange some experiences and strategies as not only new players, but also real veterans – playing the game for more than 8 years – attended the event. Getting to know the people you might attack regularly in the game was a common topic for all participants. So very quickly new friendships, alliances and maybe even some new tribes were established. Aside from talking to each other, a lot of players also took advantage of the opportunity and discussed the game with us. That way, we received a lot of feedback and some valuable insights into how to further improve the game. For all of those helpful information and hints, we would like to say thank you!

After regaining strength for some time, the InnoGames team was challenged by our players again. This time we faced off at an archery range. But even after receiving some on-court training, the players once more prevailed. Being defeated twice, we swore to ourselves to change things next year and leave the ground victoriously for once. And last but not least, when the sun slowly settled down, it was time to crown Mr. and Mrs. Tribal Wars. This year’s contestants had to fight for that title on a number of games, as we tested their skills in an obstacle course, a quiz and a singing contest ;) During the whole competition, everyone had a lot of fun, cheering and whooping for their favorite contestant.

After celebrating the winners all night long, we could look back at the event with a big smile on Sunday. It was definitely a blast for all participants and we are already looking forward to next year’s milestone birthday, when Tribal Wars celebrates its 10^th anniversary. We hope to see you all again next year!
