Career FAQ

Everything about applying, interviewing and working at InnoGames, in one place.

Application process

  • You will receive an automatic confirmation email from us after you have submitted your application. If you have not received a confirmation email (please also check your spam folder), please reach out to recruiting@innogames.com.

  • You can find the up-to-date list of all open positions on our career page. If you would like to apply for any of the roles, simply click on "apply now" at the bottom of the respective job description.

  • As we have many international colleagues and thus our company language is English, we recommend to share your application documents in English as it assures that everyone involved in the application process can correctly evaluate your profile.

Speaking German is not required at InnoGames unless otherwise mentioned in the job description (e.g., for apprenticeships since the vocational school and the final exam are conducted in German). We also offer German and English language courses for our employees on a voluntary basis in the first year of employment.

  • You have the opportunity to apply for several roles. Still, we kindly ask you to self-reflect on available opportunities first and apply only for those jobs that suit both your expertise and your expectations.

Our Talent Acquisition Managers will evaluate your profile having all our open positions in mind. If you are a great fit for a role, you did not apply for, we will inform you.

  • Throughout the application process, we always cross-evaluate your application for currently available similar jobs. However, you are very welcome to keep an eye on new job opportunities published on our career page and apply again.

  • Your application will be evaluated by our Talent Acquisition Managers to see how well your profile matches the job you have applied for. We will always inform you about our decision. If you do not hear back from us within two weeks after applying, feel free to contact us at recruiting@innogames.com to check on the status of your application. Please note that due to the very high number of applications we receive, we cannot provide detailed feedback to those applicants who were unsuccessful in the first steps of the application process.

  • Generally, you will organize your travel yourself. We reimburse travel costs from your home to our office (including the accommodation if needed) that have emerged due to the interviewing process. However, this will be arranged with you properly during the process of your application.

  • We will fully support you in the whole relocation process. Depending on the country of origin, the relocation support includes assistance in the visa and work permit process as well as any other paperwork that needs to be done (e. g., registration at German authorities, opening a bank account, application for the health insurance).

Our People and Culture Operations team as well as our external relocation agency will guide you through all steps of the relocation journey to make sure that your start in Germany is as smooth as possible.

  • Unsolicited applications sent by email are not read and will not enter our hiring process. The only way to be considered is to apply for an open position on our career page. This ensures that every application goes through the same process and is measured against the same criteria.

If you don't see a role that fits your profile right now, make sure to check back regularly or follow us on LinkedIn to be the first to know when a suitable position opens up.

  • Unfortunately, you cannot reapply for the same job, as we have already evaluated your skills and they do not fit the requirements we have for this job.

However, you can still apply for other current openings. Nevertheless, we kindly ask you to self-reflect on available opportunities first and apply only for those jobs that suit both your expertise and your expectations. Throughout the application process, we always cross-evaluate your application for similar jobs.

  • To apply for a job with us, we would like to ask you to send us your CV. The CV should describe your previous professional stations (including the respective areas of responsibility) as well as your school, company, and university education.

To be able to evaluate your profile even better, the following documents can be very helpful:

    • Cover letter or motivation letter

    • Degrees or references

    • Especially for Artist and Game Designers: portfolio, showreel or work samples

  • We do not have specific deadlines for applications. However, we are trying to fill open positions as fast as possible. So, as long as you can find a position on our careers page, it is still vacant, and you can apply for it.

But, of course, the odds are rising that someone else is already near the end of the application process the longer you wait, so we would suggest handing in your application documents as soon as they are ready.

  • Of course, we are hiring great talent from all over the world. So, we are happy to receive your application - wherever you come from!

  • First of all: Don’t be nervous. We are only humans.

Make sure to inform yourself well about InnoGames and our games. It would be great to learn more about your motivation, interests, and connection to games.

We want to get to know you better, so just be yourself and do not be afraid to ask questions.

  • We are happy to welcome you in our office for an interview or an office tour on a confirmed day and time. Due to our busy schedules, we are unable to accommodate spontaneous office visits.

  • If you have not applied for this role before, please check the size of your documents. The maximum size of each attachment is 10 MB. If your documents are larger than 10 MB, please reduce the file size.

If you are trying to upload your portfolio, a code sample, or similar files where it is impossible to reduce the size, please save it in a file cloud and provide the link to us.

  • If you have not applied for this job before and it seems that there might be an error on our system’s side, please send your application documents to us by email (recruiting@innogames.com).

  • We are happy change it for you. Just send us a short email to recruiting@innogames.com.

  • The requirements in the job description reflect the ideal skillset of the candidate. If you don't fulfill all requirements, you can still apply, as we have a strong belief that technical skills can be learned on the job. However, there is a difference between “almost qualified” and “not even close”, so please be mindful here.

Besides the technical skills, we also evaluate the team and company fit over the course of the application process. So, even if you don't fulfill all technical expectations, you can convince the hiring team with your personality and passion.

  • Informing us that you want to withdraw your application saves us a lot of effort, so we appreciate it! Just send an email by replying to the last email from us or writing directly to recruiting@innogames.com.

Working at InnoGames

  • We have two career paths at InnoGames: a specialist and a management one. The specialist career path is designed for those who want to grow within their fields of expertise without taking on leadership in a management role. The management career path is in place for the ones who would like to embrace a leadership position with managerial responsibilities.

The InnoGames career model: Career Starters grow to Junior and Regular. From there, the specialist career leads to Senior and Expert, and the management career leads to Team Lead and Head.

Both career models transparently show the way of growth from a Career Starter to an Expert or Head level, and our in-house InnoVersity offers a variety of opportunities to help you build up your skills and move forward: trainings, courses, workshops, and tickets to national and international conferences.

  • Yes. We work in a hybrid setup, so our colleagues can choose between working from home anywhere in Germany and working at our modern offices in central Hamburg. Every quarter, we all come together in the office for our Hamburg Week, which keeps our unique InnoGames spirit alive!

Important: to start your job with InnoGames, you need a work permit for Germany from day one, and you can only obtain it once you are already in Germany. You also need to live in Germany for tax and social insurance reasons, among others, as we do not have any subsidiaries outside of Germany. This means that, to start the job remotely, you currently need to already live somewhere in Germany.

  • We have flexible working hours between 6 am and 11 pm from Monday to Friday. We do not have official company core hours, and teams decide on their own how the best possible collaboration for them can be assured while still keeping the flexibility.

Other questions

  • Yes, absolutely! We welcome referrals from everyone. If you know someone who would be a great fit for one of our open positions, please find more information on our referral program Got Friends here. Your referrals can play a vital role in helping us discover top talent, and we appreciate your contribution to our team-building efforts. Every successful referral can award you 1000 €!

  • As soon as you upload your data into our system, we’ll ask you to allow us to save and use it for the duration of the application process. If you consent, we can store your data for up to 8 months. Of course, you can withdraw your consent at any time by simply sending an email to recruiting@innogames.com. We will delete your application and data straight away.

  • For the jobs listed on our career page, we are looking for long-term employment relationships, unless in a rare case the job descriptions explicitly calls for a freelance work.

Although we work with freelancers on a regular basis, we have a strong network of freelancers and outsourcing studios already and are not actively looking for extending it at the moment.

  • InnoGames has a highly professional but friendly, casual and creative atmosphere where everyone, including the management, expects to be addressed by the first-name (in German, "du").

  • Every aspect of InnoGames’ games is developed internally. Therefore, we kindly ask you not to submit your ideas; all creative material will be returned unread.
