Businesses have the power to drive positive change and foster a sustainable future by embracing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Doing so is not just an ethical obligation, but also a sound investment.

CSR encompasses various facets, from environmental sustainability initiatives to social equity programs and transparent governance practices. Below, you will find a non-exhaustive overview of our efforts to help shape a better today and tomorrow.

Environment

217,493 trees were planted thanks to the participation of the Forge of Empires community in 2024’s “Care for Tomorrow” in-game event. 

We continue to calculate the emissions from our operations, reduced them where possible, and funded climate projects equivalent to the calculated emissions amount through our partner, ClimatePartner.  

The roof of our office now features a new 77 kwp photovoltaic system that covers at least 2/3 of our energy consumption during workdays.

Society

We donate money and used hardware to non-profit organizations. In 2024, our largest single donation went to Hacker School. 

During our annual Social Day, local non-profits receive both hands-on and financial support from us. View the 2024 recap

Together with HAW Hamburg and other game companies we continue to co-organize and fund Schulpraktikum Games, a unique 3-week internship program for 9th grade pupils from Hamburg. Watch insights from the 2024 program.

Equity

We continue to champion equal pay by keeping our salary bands transparent. View current bands

Beyond transparent salaries, we continue to foster equity with open-door policies, regular management info sessions (a wonderful opportunity to poke higher-ups with questions), and access to real-time company and game performance data for all employees.

Diversity & Inclusion

We continue to hire under the motto “Come as you are”. This philosophy reflects our commitment to accepting our employees for who they are, rather than trying to change them.  

Since 2013, English has been our company language, and we continue to offer free German language training during work hours.  

In 2024, 30% of our employees were women and we continue to strive for parity.
